What We Believe
As socialists, we believe in building a world based on meeting human needs rather than making profit. We believe that the working class should hold collective power over the capital which they create, free from exploitation by bosses and landlords.
Capitalism is a system under which the ruling class profits off of the labor of the working class. Capitalists are driven by private benefit rather than public good. As workers’ wages decrease and housing becomes more expensive, the ruling class gains more power and more profit. The working class, therefore, remains exploited and has no political control over their own labor. Only by overthrowing this system and replacing it with socialism can we end the oppression of the working class.
Under socialism, workers own their means of production, have the power to democratically elect their leaders, and make collective decisions among the people. This is a system that fundamentally works towards ending the exploitation of all oppressed peoples. Socialists have historically been on the front lines for the struggle against racism, imperialism, sexism, and many other oppressive structures.
We believe in building a movement where the working class is united in their struggles against capitalist rule. We believe in socialism as the political alternative.
